Kentriki Odos implements a wide-ranging preventive and improvement maintenance programme. The preventive maintenance programme includes, among other things, works to restore road pavement damages, maintain traffic islands, vegetation, and all structures, motorway cleaning, all maintenance of electromechanical installations, safety equipment & motorway protection, irrigation and fire extinguishing systems, etc.
The improvement maintenance programme includes road pavement replacements, major interventions to technical works and building facilities, and all the investments necessary for the modernisation of the electromechanical installations & electronic equipment.
Special mention should be made of the winter period needs, when the fluctuation and intensity of weather phenomena is sudden, and in order to ensure the uninterrupted and safe operation of the motorway, the maintenance department implements a special winter maintenance programme that provides for:
- The implementation of prevention methods for adverse road conditions, such as frost protection before snowfall
- Supply of salt and continuous resupply during the winter period
- Maintenance of snow ploughs
- Cleaning of manholes and drainage infrastructure
- Creation of salt resupply stations
- Improvement of horizontal and vertical signage reflectiveness
- Carrying out readiness drills with all involved bodies
